"Keep your Eyes Open"
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any background or experience to join the course?
Not at all. Youth MHFA is designed for any adult who wants to feel more confident supporting young people’s mental health — no prior training required.
What happens if a public course doesn’t reach minimum numbers?
If a course can’t run, you’ll be offered the option to move to another date.
Which course format is right for me?
Each format teaches the same skills and leads to the same accreditation. Here’s a quick guide:
Online Blended: Best if you need flexibility or prefer learning from home.
Blended In‑Person: Great for teams wanting a mix of online learning and hands‑on practice.
Fully In‑Person: Ideal for groups who learn best through discussion, interaction, and real‑world scenarios.
If you’re unsure, I’m happy to help you choose.
How far ahead should we book training?
Four to six weeks is ideal, especially for in‑house sessions. Shorter timeframes can sometimes be arranged depending on availability.
How long does my accreditation last?
Youth MHFA accreditation is valid for 3 years. After that, you can complete a refresher course to stay current.
Do you offer training outside standard business hours?
Yes. Evening, weekend, and school‑holiday sessions can be arranged for groups needing flexibility.
Is Youth MHFA recognised across Australia?
Yes — accreditation is issued by Mental Health First Aid Australia and is recognised nationwide.
Can individuals enrol, or is this only for organisations?
Both. I run public courses for individuals and private sessions for schools, clubs, workplaces, and community groups.
What age group does Youth MHFA focus on?
The course is designed to support young people aged 12–25.
What will I receive after completing the course?
You’ll receive:
Accredited Youth MHFAider certificate (valid 3 years)
Youth MHFA manual
Access to course resources
Practical skills you can use immediately
